Always a gentleman....

That was my grandfather. It's almost September which means Grandpa has been gone for 3 years, already. Since those three years we welcomed Adeline into the family as the 25th great grandchild in the Brune clan. :o)

This weekend my parents came over to help me with the yard. It's been neglected to say the least this summer. As we were cleaning I noticed that my clematis had a bunch of deep purple flowers. It has taken a couple of years to really take off but this year it is looking beautiful! My dad was over where I was weeding and I showed him the plant. He then told me yet another heartwarming story about my grandfather.

Grandma and Grandpa rarely, if ever, missed church & it was this way when my dad was growing up.  In the Summers, on the way back from church, Grandpa would be driving out of town and to the dirt roads. The roads were surrounded by the woods which always flourished with wild berries and wild flowers.  Grandpa pulled off the road and disappeared into the woods. The kids and Grandma waited wondering what he was doing in the woods. After a few minutes he reappeared with something in his hand. As he got into the car he handed my grandmother some clematis flowers and continued driving back home. This tradition continued for some years. (I'm not sure how long and may have to ask my grandmother when I go up to Bemidji this weekend!)
And that my friends is a gentleman, my grandfather.
