Car Accident...

Last night Greg and I went to work out and then make a quick stop at Rainbow to buy some baking supplies. On our way home we noticed this little car egging on another to 'race.' So after making some comments about racing on the street, we witnessed them go and race. We were traveling southbound as well as they were. As we go to the top of a hill we saw the cars heading towards an intersection. The light had turned yellow, a semi, traveling northbound, had started turning, the one car made it through, and the other car crashed into the tail end of the semi. Greg asked if we should stop and yes we did. Greg called 911 and I went out to the car. By the time I got to the car there was a crowd of people already. Everyone was very helpful yet anxious since you never know if a car could catch fire. As I approached the car I saw the driver first. He looked pretty bad but mostly in shock. I thought maybe he had a broken nose but nothing too horrible. Then I saw it, a car seat in the back with a baby girl. My heart sank. The baby was okay but my thoughts got very negative. There were some people trying to talk to the driver so I went to the other side of the car. A girl around my age, I'm guessing, was kneeling on the ground crying. I talked to her and helped her up and walked with her to the side walk. A man carried a boy, about 10 years old or less to the side walk also that was sitting in the back seat. Then someone had gotten both the baby and the driver to the side walk. It was a sad, sad site. Greg and I stayed there and made a statement to the police about what we saw. There were also two other people that had somewhat seen the accident but I think Greg and I had the best view. I couldn't get this out of my mind last night. What was that driver thinking? It's one thing to put your own life in danger but to put two children and another person in danger as well? *sigh* There isn't much more to say. I'm just keeping them all in my prayers, including the truck driver. The truck driver was obviously fine and kept his distance but made sure that the police knew he was there and didn't just drive off. It was not an experience i would like to relive. I think it was something that kept me up last night. I got about 3 hours of sleep last night. I just kept seeing the car crash into the semi and then that baby in the back seat. At least everyone was okay....

Oh my goodness! That is insane! I can't believe someone would actually do that. Thank goodness they were okay and you and others were there to help out, but come on. I don't blame you for not being able to sleep after that. Sad, sad.
