Wow, busy busy weekend over here in the chilly weather. (Speaking of "Chilly" I hear he was fired, probably a good thing).
Friday, right after work I went to pick up paint for the nursery. I had two samples that G and I liked but the one was a little too blue and the other was a little too yellow. Mission - find something perfectly in between the two. So I went to the paint store and looked around forever. I was a little irked since I was the only person in the store with four people working and no one came over to help me. I was walking all around the store trying to look at the samples in different 'lighting" and finally came up with a decent color. When I went up to the register, a little frazzled, the lady asked if I found what I was looking for. I asked for her opinion and low and behold she got out some color books and found the 'perfect' color in 5 minutes. Uff, that would of been a lot easier if I could of gotten help right away but whatever. Friday evening G and I taped up the nursery and put down drop cloths. Before that we had to pick up the drop cloths and a few extra painting supplies. So it was a busy night of running around.
We both woke up pretty early had a nice bfast, ran to Costco to get our grocery shopping finished and then started to paint our daughters room. :) It turned out wonderful, I LOVE it! G did all of the edging which is usually a pain but we found a real handy tool at Home Depot that worked like a charm. So as he started to clean up, and I was about 10 minutes behind him finishing up as well. We got all of that done and brewed another pot of coffee, and I started on the Christmas decorations. First decision, blue/silver or red/green? This year we are going with the traditional red/green theme. So I tried to be organized and put all of the blue/silver stuff into one box and packed that away for another year. You would think that having 7 boxes of Christmas stuff is a lot but I really felt that it wasn't . By the late afternoon I finally had our home looking like a Christmas home. Next weekend will be the cherry on top by adding the tree but this weekend was all about the details. It turned out nice and I'm pretty happy with it. I do have to make one stop at Michael's to add some finishing touches but other than that G just needs to help me put away the empty boxes and I am good to go!
Sunday we self in a little and once again enjoyed a nice breakfast. After that we cleaned up and took our annual family photo. It took some time since I don't have a tripod, have a stubborn old dog and the lightning was not on my side. But lo and behold we figured it out. It only took about 10 pictures! G and I then watched football for a little bit and I worked on the Christmas cards as well as updated the address book. Sunday afternoon went by pretty fast. I did get the last touch ups done in the nursery and took off all the tape and whatnot. Now it's just time to start putting the rest of it together...this may take a little time. :)
It was quite a busy shut in weekend. The roads were so icy that I"m glad that I had so much to do at home and didn't have to leave the house. Ah winter...
