Random Thought about a Crosswalk

The other day I came upon a crosswalk. This crosswalk was not at a stoplight so I took great precaution when crossing the street. Good thing I did or I would of been hit by one of many (probably ~12) cars. It was still daylight and I wasn't in dark clothing so they all saw me and just drove on by without a blink of an eye. Do people not know what a crosswalk is?? I know everyone is in a hurry and I was in a bit of a hurry myself but don't people have any common courtesy these days? I have taken notice as to where people will actually stop for a crosswalk and many times its in a smaller town and definitely not a city. Why is that? I know this is just me complaining and obviously its such a small matter but pay if forward some day and actually stop for a crosswalk when someone is waiting to cross.
