I offically get to eat my words of not having a New Year's resolution. Yesterday Greg emailed me this wonderful idea called 100 things. Basically in the month of January we, as a couple, are going to get 'rid' of 100 THINGS. If we get to 100 then we are going to go for 200. To break it down the Things can be anything, really...well almost anything. We sat down yesterday and wrote down ground rules. Some of these are as follows:
You can sell Things because you're getting rid of them and that counts.
- Does it have monetary value?
- Should we ebay or craigslist?
- Days on craigslist for sale 4 days, then free for 3 days, then goodwill/foodshelf/or trash
- Clothing goes straight to foodshelf or goodwill
- 2 pairs of socks = 1 thing
- One shirt/jeans/pants/etc = 1 thing
Things must be disposed of (sold/trashed/donated) by the weekend. The last resort is the trash because most things can be recycled in some way.
We have some other "rules" too. I am so exicted to be getting rid THINGS! I am easily excited and this is definitly something that is exciting for me. Greg and I are still working on what counts as Things but we are one our way already.
